We are excited to announce the second annual Forest Hill UMC Round Robin Pickleball Tournament which will be held on Sunday, May 19th from 2:30 to approximately 6:30 pm. No partner is necessary! This tournament is for intermediate players. Players should be able to sustain a rally. All tournament fees will be donated to this year’s Lenten Offering, RISE Against Hunger. Prizes will be awarded to the top three players.

Details:

  • First 16 players to register and pay the $20 entry fee will play.
  • Here’s a link to pay the registration fee online: https://ppay.co/iJPB5KsJKf0
(Please write “Pickleball Tournament” in the memo line.)
If writing a check, make it payable to Forest Hill UMC with “Lent Offering” written on the memo line and either dropped off or mailed to Forest Hill UMC, or taken to the Kerr St. gym during pickleball play days/times.
  • Players will draw a number from 1-16. Groups of 8 players will be divided up into time slots:
Numbers 1-8 will play from 2:30 to 4:00 pm
Numbers 9-16 will play from 4:00 to 5:30 pm (or as soon as the first group of 8 players finish)
  • Individual players will rotate partnering with other players in the gym in a round robin rotation. Games will be played to 11 and can be won by just one point. After each game, players will “win” the number of points in that game. All players will play a total of 6 games. Only the top 8 from both time slots will play a final game.
  • Line judges for each court will be provided. These judges will also keep score of all games and help with rotation questions.
  • The top 4 players with the most points in the first group of 8 and the top 4 in the second group of 8 will play a final game to 15. Players will draw new numbers to be paired with a partner. After the one final game, ALL individual points will be added together and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be
    announced.

This is a fun way to continue pickleball play with a little extra incentive!

What?
Pickleball is a combination of ping pong, tennis, and badminton and it’s easy to play for all ages. It is a low impact sport and we have both beginners and intermediate/advance courts and playing times, so no need to worry if you don’t know how to play. The church will provide the needed equipment, so you only need to bring yourself, but even better, you could bring yourself and a friend! No cost to play.
If you have questions, please contact Tina Pfeiffer
