Special Statement on COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

From Pastor Mandy (3/12/20)

Our bishop, Bishop Paul Leeland, has requested that all United Methodist churches in our conference suspend public worship services for the next two weeks.  This request is to help slow the rate of the COVID-19 infection and allow our health system time to respond appropriately to the virus.  This is a proactive measure intended to reduce anxiety.
While we will not have open worship on Sunday, we will be live streaming a worship service at 9 a.m. via Facebook Live on the Forest Hill page.  Please be sure to follow the page for any additional updates that may follow.
Our ministry at Forest Hill will not stop during this time. The church office will remain open and we can be reached if you have any pastoral emergencies.  As a precautionary measure, we will limit home, nursing home, and hospital visitations over the next few weeks. As a note, hospitals have already begun limiting visitors to immediate family.
Because ministry will continue, we are asking that you continue to give generously to the church through your financial support.  You can give via our website (https://www.foresthillumc.org/give/), by mail (265 Union Street, NC, Concord 28025), by visiting the church office or sending a check through your online banking institution.  If you need help with any of these methods, please call the church office at 704-782-1109 or email us.  Additionally, we will be extending the matching challenge for the “Push to the Finish” campaign for a few additional weeks and we still hope to pay off the mortgage this spring.
Though worship services are canceled, we will still have small gatherings here at church and the church office will remain open.  Below is a list of events that will continue along with events that are canceled.
We extend our prayers for the many people that have been affected by the virus.  We are living in an unprecedented time and it is easy to feel the anxiety of the news reports.  As your pastor, I encourage you to make wise choices, while you live in faith and hope. The people known as Methodists have, for hundreds of years, been known to be people driven by love, not driven by fear.  If you feel anxious, take time to breathe and listen for the still, peaceful voice of God.
Lenten blessings,
Pastor Mandy
